Question 1

Which platforms can I install Phantom on?

Accepted Answer

Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) and macOS 12.3 or newer. There is no Linux client. The Android companion is a separate, optional app.

Question 2

Why do I have to sign in before downloading?

Accepted Answer

Installers are account-gated. Once you sign in with a verified email, Phantom issues a signed download link for the platform you choose, so installs are attributable to an account rather than an open public URL.

Question 3

Do I need my own API key before installing?

Accepted Answer

No. Free Trial and Premium use Phantom-managed models. Pro BYO is the only lane that uses your own supported provider accounts.

Question 4

What does Phantom capture during a session?

Accepted Answer

The computer microphone when you choose to dictate, screenshots you take of an area on your screen, the resume and job description you paste, and hosted knowledge on Premium. It does not capture meeting or system audio.

Question 5

Is the Android companion required?

Accepted Answer

No. Phantom works fully on Windows or macOS without it. The companion pairs with a signed-in desktop session so you can capture and ask from your phone. It needs Android 8.0 or newer and installs as an APK.

Question 6

Which macOS permissions does Phantom ask for?

Accepted Answer

Microphone, Speech Recognition, Accessibility, and Screen Recording. Dictation and area capture do not work until those are granted.
